When using our Service, we automatically collect the following information:

  • Technical data: IP address (solely for abuse protection - rate limiting), browser type, preferred language (Accept-Language header)
  • Usage data: visited pages, visit duration, navigation patterns
  • Cookie data: session identifiers, user preferences (language, theme)

Locally Stored Information

The Service uses browser localStorage to store:

  • Search history of anatomical terms (maximum 10 recent searches)
  • Language and theme preferences

This data is stored exclusively in your browser and is not sent to our servers.

2. Cookies

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when visiting a website. They enable recognition of your browser and remembering specific information.

How do we use cookies?

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • Functional cookies: allow remembering your preferences (language via NEXT_LOCALE cookie, theme via next-themes)
  • Analytics cookies: help understand how users interact with the Service
  • Advertising cookies: used by Google AdSense to display personalized ads

Managing cookies

You can control and/or delete cookies at your discretion. Details can be found in your browser settings. Deleting cookies may affect Service functionality.

3. Google AdSense and Advertising

Our Service uses Google AdSense to display ads. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Display personalized ads based on your previous visits to our or other services
  • Measure ad effectiveness and prevent fraud
  • Collect information about your visits to improve ad quality

More information about how Google uses data:

Opting out of personalized ads

You can opt out of personalized Google ads by visiting Google Ad Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

4. How We Use Collected Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Providing and maintaining Service functionality
  • Personalizing user experience (language, theme, search history in localStorage)
  • Analyzing Service usage for improvement
  • Displaying relevant ads through Google AdSense
  • Detecting and preventing abuse through rate limiting (max 60 requests per minute per IP)

5. Abuse Protection (Rate Limiting)

To protect the Service from abuse, we use rate limiting via Cloudflare KV. Your IP address is temporarily stored in the Cloudflare KV database along with request timestamps. This data is automatically deleted after double the time window (120 seconds). Rate limiting restricts API requests to 60 per minute per IP address.

6. Data Security

Your data security is our priority. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect collected information from unauthorized access, loss, or destruction.

Our security measures include:

  • SSL/TLS connection encryption
  • Hosting on secure Cloudflare Workers infrastructure
  • Regular security audits
  • Data collection minimization
  • Automatic deletion of rate limiting data after specified time (TTL)

7. Sharing Data with Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

  • Google AdSense: for displaying ads (in accordance with their privacy policy)
  • Cloudflare: hosting infrastructure provider (Workers, D1, KV) and DDoS attack protection
  • Legal requirements: when required by law or in response to legitimate law enforcement requests

8. Your Rights

Under data protection regulations (GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: you can obtain information about processed data
  • Right to rectification: you can correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure: you can request deletion of your data (localStorage data can be deleted independently in browser settings)
  • Right to restriction of processing: you can limit how data is processed
  • Right to object: you can object to data processing
  • Right to data portability: you can receive your data in a structured format

To exercise your rights, contact us at: office@anatomicon.com
